Pathfinder Online, a WoW-like MMO released in early 2012 and received praise for its player progression system that encourages players to explore the world. The game is set to sunset on July 31st, but as of recent updates from last week it seems as if there’s still plenty left for players to enjoy.
Pathfinder Online is a game that has been in development for over ten years. The game was set to sunset on October 29, but it will still be adding new content.
We talked about the imminent closing of Pathfinder Online back in July, and now it’s nearly here. Paizo had set the game’s last day for November 28th, putting to an end a significant subplot that spanned the game’s entire lifetime. Even still, the studio stated that it was conceivable that the servers might not be available until then.
Fortunately, it seems that the servers will last another month, since the devs patched in a new chapter of the tale this week. “With Nhur Athemon’s own Chosen approaching to conclude the conflict between death and undeath, this update focuses on introducing a fresh escalation for our ultimate event,” the creators say.
“In one last escalation, Nhur Athemon is preparing to send out his fiercest soldiers yet, his very own Chosen.” This will only occur during the event, not as part of the normal escalation rotation. This new escalation will debut at the conclusion of a brief sequence that will begin on Friday, October 29 in all of the allocated monster hexes.”
Pathfinder Online was Kickstarted in 2012 for over a million dollars, but layoffs and unsuccessful funding forced it into a state of continuous beta with land auctions, which evidently wasn’t enough to keep it alive.
